CoilingΒΆ

Type:section
Appearance:multiple

Setting a coiling initial strain models the bending of a long rod, e.g. a prolonged fiber, so that the body is coiled around a center. We assume that the rod is directed in the z - direction. Then only the zz - component is nonzero:

\begin{eqnarray*}
\TField{\varepsilon}^{(\init)}_{zz} & = & -(x-x_0)/R,
\end{eqnarray*}

where R is the distance to the coiling center in the x - coordinate direction and x_0 is the x - position, where no distortion takes place.
