A RoughSegment replaces an original straight polygon segment by a reproducible
one-dimensional random roughness profile. Gaussian white noise is filtered with a
Gaussian kernel and adjusted to the requested RMSHeight. The realization is controlled by RandomSeed.
The filtering uses CorrelationLength as its characteristic lateral scale. To retain the original polygon topology, the generated deflection is corrected by a linear endpoint term: both endpoints lie exactly on the original straight segment, while the interior follows the random profile.
The sampled roughness is resolved automatically according to the
correlation length. Very small correlation lengths
relative to a segment may therefore require the segment to be split. A RoughSegment
can only replace an original straight segment.
