ThermalExpansionΒΆ

A temperature change may give rise to stresses within a body. To model this one specifies the temperature (growth temperature) for which the body is free of stresses. Together with the linear thermal expansibility tensor \alpha, see LinearThermalExpansibility, this allows to define the initial strains as follows:

\begin{eqnarray*}
\TField{\varepsilon}^{(\init)} & = & \TField{\alpha} \left( T-T_0 \right)
\end{eqnarray*}
